Ishan Gupta
Ishan Guptais an education entrepreneur and the CEO of the Delhi-based higher education enrollment platform EduKart.
Early life
Ishan studied Engineering in Delhi University. Later he obtained his MBA from Stanford University, California, USA. While studying at University of Delhi Ishan founded the Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society in his campus. He became a scholarship holder of ISA Educational Scholarship for his contribution in promoting ISA all over Delhi. He later moved to United Kingdom for a while and worked in University of Edinburgh. During this time he extensively traveled all over Europe including London and Manchester, Paris, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Ireland, Vienna.
Career
Ishan started an education company while doing his engineering. He subsequently went to Stanford University to pursue his higher education and then worked at multiple places including Facebook, One97 Communications, Helion Venture Partners before launching EduKart in 2011.
Ishan was the marketing officer of Facebook in India as its sole representative in the country. He was the manager of the One97 Mobility Fund, a $100 million venture fund. He also worked as a General Manager at One97 Communications and was responsible for new product creation at One97.
Ishan founded the Appin Knowledge Solutions, an education services company in India which is one of the leading players in the field of information security training and consulting. He also worked at Helion Venture Partners, an India focused venture fund.
Books and recognition
Ishan published the book "Make the Move - Demystifying Entrepreneurship" in 2007. The book has a foreword by Sabeer Bhatia, founder of Hotmail and a message from then President of India, A.P.J Abdul Kalam. He was featured on Young Turks, CNBC for his work in the field of education and promoting entrepreneurship. The book has sold more than 10,000 copies till date.
Ishan spoke at the Stanford University, London Business School, Indian School of Business, IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT Roorkee on topics like Leadership and Entrepreneurship. He has also represented education entrepreneurs in a committee formed by Government of India on Implementation of Technology in Higher Education.
