International Football Union

The International Football Union (IFU), is a football association established on 12 August 2009. It wants to have represented nations, dependencies, unrecognized states and regions not affiliated to FIFA. The IFU seeks to work with FIFA to be a temporary organisation for some football associations before they acquire membership in FIFA.

The International Football Union sent the first press release on the 6th of September.

The federation was disbanded in 2010.

Membership

The IFU have stated that their intention is to federate football associations that represent either independent nations or regions that, while they May Be part of a nation state, have a degree of regional autonomy. On the 17th October 2009 the announced two FA's applied for membership namely the Grönland Bondspil-Union (representing Greenland) and the Zanzibar Football Association (representing Zanzibar). They are now provisional members until they are accepted officially at the General Meeting.
