Intermedia is a provider of business communications services, including hosted Microsoft Exchange, to small- and mid-sized businesses. Customers can directly subscribe to services providing business email, telephony, smart phones, instant messaging, fax and other communications delivered as a service. Intermedia also allows approximately 4,000 smaller VARs and MSPs — as well as select Fortune 500 companies — to sell communications services under their own brand. Intermedia is headquartered in New York City, with additional offices in Sunnyvale CA, London UK and St. Petersburg, Russia. The company operates multiple data centers in California and New York.

Intermedia's hosted offering includes: hosted Exchange 2010, hosted Exchange 2007, Office Communicator Server (OCS) 2007, SharePoint 3.0, as well as fax via email. They offer the same IT solutions that Fortune 500 companies use, but without the need for large upfront capital expenditures.
History
Intermedia was founded in 1995 and was the first company to offer cloud-based “business-class email” in 2000.
The company was the first to offer hosted Exchange 2007 and hosted Exchange 2010 and currently has more than 225,000 premium Exchange mailboxes under management — making them the largest provider by seat count in the industry. In November 2009 the company launched the first SaaS industry 100 percent Data Protection Guarantee , using their DataEcho™ architecture to replicate user data multiple times across geographically dispersed data centers.
Business Model
Intermedia offers two models of service to clients, Direct and Partner.
The Direct service offers customers business email, telephony, smartphones, instant messaging, fax and other communications delivered from and by Intermedia as a service with 24x7 support.
The Partner service empowers thousands of smaller MSPs, VARs and IT consultants — as well as select Fortune 500 companies — to sell communications services under their own brand. Intermedia offers two hosted Exchange reseller programs. The Private Label Partner Program is for those who wish to generate recurring revenue from existing and new customers with high margin Exchange hosting services — under their own brand — while Intermedia maintains, monitors and upgrades all hardware and software. The Affiliate Program is for partners that prefer to promote Intermedia solutions and earn a commission for each sale they make. All partners can sell Intermedia's full suite of hosted communications and collaboration software, including hosted Exchange 2010 and 2007, Office Communications Server 2007, SharePoint 3.0 WSS and MS Dynamics CRM. Intermedia enables resellers to sell not only Microsoft products, but a full ecosystem of related offerings including full support for Blackberry Enterprise Server, fax lines and other communication tools.
