Interfaith Furnishings

Interfaith Furnishings (IFF) is a Morris County nonprofit service organization. It represents the effort of 11 faith-based communities in Randolph, New Jersey, serving Morris County, New Jersey. The nonprofit provides home furnishings for those in need by accepting furniture donations from the community, and storing them until they are required. The nonprofit operates through volunteerism, donations, and agency support.

Participating Faith-Based Communities

The following communities are actively participating in Interfaith Furnishings: Bethlehem Church, Randolph Christian Church, Congregational Church of Randolph, Hope Presbyterian Church, Ironia Free Methodist Church, Macedonian Orthodox Monastery of St. George, Millbrook United Methodist Church, Mt. Fern United Methodist Church, Resurrection Parish, St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, Saint Matthew the Apostle Parish.

The following agencies refer clients in need of furniture to Interfaith Furnishings: Birthright, Inc. through Hope House; Catholic Charities; Community Hope, Inc.; D.A.W.N., Inc.; Dover Housing Authority; Family Enrichment Program; First Call for Help; First Choice Women's Resource Centers; Gateway Northwest Maternal and Child Network; Good Counsel Maternity House; Head Start Community Program of Morris County, Inc.; Homeless Solutions; Hope House; Interfaith Council for Homeless Families; Jersey Battered Women's Services; Morris County Dept. of Human Services Division on Aging, Disabled and Veterans; Morris Habitat for Humanity; Morristown Neighborhood House; Mt. Kemble Home for Elderly Women; Randolph Community Services; Several Sources Foundation; Straight & Narrow, Inc.; Trinity Lutheran Church

Donation Limitations

Due to the size limitations of most of the apartments or homes of the clients, Interfaith Furnishings limits its donations to furniture of smaller sizes, such as sofas, love seats, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, dinette sets, bedroom sets with single, double or queen size beds, bookcases. The nonprofit does not accept appliances, sofa beds, or clothing.

History

First Project

Interfaith Furnishings first ever project was to help furnish the new James Street apartments in New Jersey, established by Homeless Solutions. The apartments were made available to qualified working poor to help people in Morris County who could not find affordable housing. Fifteen families moved in and Interfaith Furnishings provided their furniture, due to a furniture drive held by Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Warehouse Location

Interfaith Furnishings has warehoused its operations at different, temporarily donated locations in Morris County, in the following chronological order: 1. Dover, New Jersey 2. Rockaway, New Jersey 3. Randolph, New Jersey 4. Dover, New Jersey (as of February 2009)
