Interdisciplinary Cluster for Applied Genoproteomics

The Interdisciplinary Cluster for Applied Genoproteomics, or in French Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Génoprotéomique Appliquée (GIGA) is an organization working in the field of genoproteomics at the University of Liège (ULg) in Belgium. Joseph Martial is Chairman of GIGA.

History

GIGA was founded within the University of Liège in October 2003. The GIGA-Research centre in 2008 consists of 20 research units and 280 employees working within the domain of genoproteomics.

Organization

The cluster is organized along 5 axes:

  • GIGA-Research (GIGA-R): academic research
    • GIGA-Cancer
    • GIGA-Development and Stem cells
    • GIGA-Genetics
    • GIGA-Infection, Immunity and Inflammation
    • GIGA-Signal Transduction
    • GIGA-Systems Biology and Chemical Biology
  • GIGA-Management (GIGA-M): integrated technical facilities for Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Protein production-purification-characterisation, Bioinformatics, Transgenics (mouse and zebrafish) and Imaging-Flow Cytometry.
  • GIGA-Technology Transfer (GIGA-TT)
  • GIGA Training Centre
  • GIGA Espace Enterprises (GEE): bioincubator (Wallonia Biotech Coaching) and development area
