Professional Standards

The IITT exists to continuously raise standards of professionalism within the training industry.

Through a range of membership, certification, accreditation, events and bespoke consultancy services, the Institute focuses on enhancing and recognising the skills and professional status of individuals and organisations engaged in training activities, and assessing the quality of training services.

An independent view

The IITT is a self-governing, objective body and as such is able to adopt an impartial viewpoint to monitoring benchmarks of excellence and standards against which it can measure the performance of training professionals.

Membership

The IITT provides various levels of individual membership for training professionals. The level of membership afforded to an individual is dependent on their level of experience, skills and qualifications gained in the Learning and Development industry.

IITT membership carries postal-nominal letters which vary depending on the level of membership.

Accreditation

Organisations and Training Providers receive accreditation to demonstrate that they meet the Institute’s standards of excellence in the implementation and delivery of training services. As part of accreditation the Institute works with accredited companies to monitor their performance and ensure that they are continually raising industry standards.

The majority of the Top 50 training companies (according to IT Training Magazine) are accredited by the Institute.

Certification

The IITT provides trainers with the opportunity gain the Institute Certified Training Practitioner Certificate, which is recognsied throughout the training industry. The certificate is achieved following a live assessment under the IITT's TPMA (Trainer Performance Monitoring & Assessment) programme.

After achieving the IITT's Institute Certified Training Practitioner Certificate, trainers can further their qualifications by taking a national Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Award Level 3/4 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
