Inside and out

Inside and Out is one of many non-profit organizations based in the UK dedicated to Providing support for those affected by [...]. The organization was started in April 2004 by Simon Jones (iout.org), a web developer in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire UK. It has since grown and as of April, 2006 is making steps to become a nationally recognised charity.

Inside and Out run support groups for people affected by [...]; either directly or indirectly, they run school talks, talks with other neighbouring organizations and are currently starting to organise events to dramatically raise awareness of [...] in the community.

During its lifetime, Inside and Out groups have been attended by British Red Cross members demonstrating skin camouflage creams for hiding scars, St John's Ambulance with first aid advice, and counsellors wishing help and/or to gain further insight into [...]. Inside and Out have also appeared live on Five News (image below).

Key dates

  • April 2004 - Inside and Out's birth under its original name 'Inside Out'
  • May 2004 - The website was setup to provide online information and support forum
  • March 2005 - Inside and Out was approached by other mental health organisations and became recognised.
  • January 2005 - A second volunteer was appointed to help run the support groups.
  • March 2006 - A third volunteer was appointed for fundraising and events management.
  • March 2006 - Inside and Out appeared live on Channel 5 news.
  • April 2006 - Inside and Out changed name from 'Inside Out' to differentiate from a charity of the same name.
  • April 2006 - A forth volunteer was appointed to run a further support group in Surrey.
  • April 2006 - Another group planned for opening in West Herts College in Watford.
  • May 2007 - Unfortunately due to a combination of personal commitments and illness, we have had to put Inside and Out on hold for the time being. The phoneline, website and related email addresses no longer work. For online help, we would recommend Recover_Your_Life/ RYL's Home Page website and forum.
