Illinois Civil Justice League

The Illinois Civil Justice League is a coalition of Illinois citizens, small and large businesses, associations, professional societies, not-for-profit organizations and local governments that have joined together to work for fairness in the Illinois civil justice system. The League's agenda is limited to working for, and preservation of, a civil justice system that is fair to all Illinois citizens and interests.

League Membership

The Illinois Civil Justice League (ICJL) currently represents more than 500,000 Illinois residents directly, and additional hundreds of thousands indirectly. Members and supporters include many of the major business and professional associations and societies in Illinois.

Among ICJL members are the Illinois State Medical Society, with more than 16,000 physician members; the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians, with more than 1,200 family practice doctors; the Illinois Engineering Council and the Structural Engineers Association, each with more than 1,000 professional members.

The Illinois Hospital Association, which represents more than 200 Illinois hospitals and the Metropolitan Chicago Health Care Council, which represents more than 90 hospitals in the Chicago area, have been ACTIVE participants. The Illinois Health Care Association represents nursing and senior care facilities throughout Illinois.

Business associations which belong or work with the ICJL include the National Federation of Independent Business, with AbOUT 20,000 small businesses; the Illinois Manufacturers' Association, with more than 5,000 manufacturing members; the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, with more than 7,000 members; and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association, with more than 5,000 members. These associations by themselves represent more than 500,000 Illinois workers.

The Illinois Farm Bureau and its 355,000 members also is a member.

The major employers in Illinois also are members. Included are Caterpillar Inc.; Motorola; State Farm Insurance; CNA Insurance; Deere and Company, Brunswick, Allstate Insurance, and Kraft General Foods.

More than 550 units of local government -- villages, school districts, park districts and library districts -- are also members.
