ICM-Browser is a free product of Molsoft, and provides access to structural biology data and protein families. It reads PDB or alignment files directly from online databases and provides a molecular graphics environment with various representations of proteins, DNA and RNA, and multiple sequence alignments.

Supported file formats

  • PDB structure files
  • MDL molecular format
  • Tripos mol2 format
  • Tables/spreadsheets in portable *.csv or icm format
  • Sequence and alignment files (fasta, swissprot, and other formats)
  • Wavefront 3D objects
  • ICM objects and ICM binary archives with multiple objects or molecular movies

Selected features

  • PDB search engine with direct local access to all PDB files without downloading the database
  • a molecular graphics tool box including multiple representations, fog effects, stereo, adjustable perspective, and multilevel selection
  • colored alignments of publication quality, consensus coloring
  • cross-selection between 3D objects, sequences and alignments
  • selections at the secondary structure level
