Ibanera was founded in 2017. By 2021, the company had announced an expansion of its fintech services in Singapore, focused on cross-border transfers and related financial services.

In December 2022, Ibanera announced a partnership with Cross River to support its payments capabilities and digital banking platform. Trade coverage reported that the partnership supported ACH, wire transfers, and real-time payment functionality.

In March 2023, industry publications reported that Ibanera had completed an $18.5 million funding round to support BitLine and related payment infrastructure expansion.

In October 2025, Ibanera announced that Jondalar Diepeveen had become chief executive officer.

In March 2025, OffshoreAlert reported that Deltec Bank & Trust Ltd. had sued Ibanera entities in federal court in Florida, alleging the theft of $18 million.
