I, Librarian is a web-based bibliography manager. It May Be used to build an annotated library of scientific PDF articles by individuals, as well as by small collaborative groups.
Features
Most I, Librarian features are aimed to provide practical environment to mine, record, and retrieve literature in PDF. The program does not have the ability to format references in word processors. However, users may export reference data into reference managers, which can read RIS or CSV files.
Main features
I, Librarian may be used to:
- build either personal or shared (laboratory, departmental) PDF library
- store up to a 100,000 fully annotated PDF files
- search for words and phrases both in reference data and PDF files
- search and seamlessly import literature from PubMed, PubMed Central, NASA ADS, arXiv, and HighWire Press
- store attached files, like supplementary data or full resolution figures
- attach personal notes
- access all stored data and PDF files through WWW
- organize PDFs into multiple categories
- create personal Shelves in the shared library
- create personal projects by placing records at a virtual Desk
Import and export features
I, Librarian can import references from Endnote XML file, ISI Export file, and RIS files from supported repositories, including IEEE Xplore, IngentaConnect, JSTOR, RePEc, Science Direct, Scopus, and Scitation. References can be exported as RIS, Endnote, BibTex, CSV and plain text files.
Other features
I, Librarian can be used as groupware, accessed by multiple users with read/write and read permissions. Among other features are the ability to detect and remove duplicate records, or customize fonts and colors of the working environment.
