Humanitarian socialism
Humanitarian Socialism vs. Marxist-Leninist Socialism
"The principle of Marxist Leninist Socialism is: From each according to his/her ability, to each according to his/her work."
In the USSR, which was a Socialist state, people were forced to work and "volunteer" for the party and government with their building projects in order to catch up with the achievements of the industrial revolution which had already occurred in the west. The problem with making a law requiring mandatory labor is that after a while when the Soviets had caught up to the west the Soviets had an authoritarian state which did not allow people to express themselves in their dress, music, and other social means of free expression. This drained the creativity from soviet citizens while the openness of the west enhanced creativity which was itself the cause of new technologies being invented. The other problem is that at the time after the Second World War and after the Revolution itself enough people were ready to volunteer to build the country for a bowl of soup in most cases, a mandatory labor law therefore was not necessary. The communists of course did not have to work at all. A redefinition of socialism is necessary and what it should mean is that technology will be used not only to improve working conditions and society in general but to guarantee the right of each individual to not work if they choose. Today under capitalism we have technology that can solve the oil problems and medical problems we have and yet capitalists don't want to solve these problems because they have whole industries where profit is the only motive and if new less expensive technologies are implemented they will stop making all that money.
The term “socialism” can be used in a correct way which is not the way it is currently being used by the left. The way the left uses the term Socialism in their literature would create a dictatorship with no rights. The correct path to socialism should be based on individualism. If the government truly belongs to all the people then no one should be forced to labor for a leader or an idea, instead everyone has to choose the way they can contribute in any way they decide can benefit society. This means that some people should be able to dedicate their lives to painting, acting, writing, singing, sports, meditation and many other arts and activities that all benefit society in their own way.
This would be a much better approach to a humanitarian vision of socialism, and if people know that they are free to pursue their lives the way they decide, I guarantee that there will be enough people who will voluntarily be willing to work with the government and fulfill the necessary economic planning that will advance society. There should be a special government work sector where people who do not feel they have other talents or aspirations at a certain point in their life will be able to help the government fulfill its plans in accordance with technological modernization. Government can never make laws which force people to work, think, feel, or act a certain way.
Market Socialism Vs. Humanitarian Socialism
The Communist Party of China (CPC) represents the current leadership of the world international Communist/Socialist movements. The CPC has embraced an ideology they refer to as Market Socialism. In the United States Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson represent this ideology, which is the equivalent of modern fascism.
Similar to China, where there is a split in the CPC, in the U.S. there is a split within the Democratic Party. However, unlike in China where the opposition has identified itself as one of Humanitarian Socialism as opposed to Market Socialism, Our Democratic Party lacks such deep ideological analysis and therefore allows us to start our Humanitarian Socialist movement at the grassroots level. This will have its advantages as well as disadvantages, but if we look for historical comparisons we will notice that when radical thought is allowed in government chambers, it ultimately becomes corrupted and unappealing to the masses, as for example, Marxism in Germany. On the other hand in Russia where Marxism was a completely grassroots movement it eventually was able to prevail almost in the type of fashion Marx had envisioned.
Part of the CPC membership realizes that the more market activity in China, which continues unregulated, has contributed toward the internal contradictions inherent in all capitalist societies, such as exploitation of man by man and involuntary servitude or more commonly known as wage slavery. Due to the fact that the CPC is the ruling party at this point in time, they have to fill several ideological vacuums in order for them to survive as a ruling party. However, when the CPC succeeds in its imperialist ambitions of becoming a superpower equal to the United States, then they will rid themselves of all the liberal and humanitarian elements of the party. With the military cooperation of the U.S., and France, a new fascist system will likely prevail in the western world. As far as the east is concerned lead by Russia, and Iran, such a system will be imposed much sooner then in the West.
The Nazis, also put their own spin on socialism in order for it to serve their benefits and their regime, they called it National Socialism. In reality Socialism has nothing in common with either the interests of one nation, or in the case of Market Socialism in the interests of a certain class (bourgeoisie, or the new ruling communist elite on the world stage.) In effect Market Socialism is simply modern fascism, it advocates for a police state, which it justifies on the basis that Marxism-Leninism supports the “dictatorship of the proletariat”. On the other hand it distinguishes itself from traditional fascism with its communist and socialist rhetoric, which is similar to the strategy used by [...], if you put aside the racial theories. The Nazis did not start out with their racial theories at the core of their ideology, within today’s Chinese society the same type of racial theories are prominent as were during the early rise of the [...] movement. In fact the CPC encourages the belief of superiority on behalf of the regime, this is why they encourage the spread of the power and influence of the CPC. Keep in mind they are not encouraging the spread of Socialism, as did for example the Soviet Union, they are proponents of the idea that the Chinese system is superior; its system is Market Socialism or what the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) recently referred to as "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics." The Nazis also maintained their system was superior, that was not a far stretch for most Germans who eventually were lead into believing that only they were able to come up with such a superior system and therefore they were superior and had the right to occupy and impose their system on any people.
The U.S. will eventually take the place of an occupied regime, something like Vichy France which maintained nationalist pro-French rhetoric, while when it came down to it, they were occupied by the Germans and had to submit eventually to a draft and involuntary servitude in Germany when Germany was at the brink of defeat.
The challenge of the Humanitarian Socialist Party in the United States
Our current challenge is simply one of propaganda. We must expose the leadership of the Democratic Party and the Communist Party USA/UFPJ all of which are surrogates for the CPC. We must put forward a new vision of society; one that rejects traditional Marxism-Leninism based on the new material conditions of society, while at the same time rejects Market Socialism when offered by the ruling class as an alternative and supposedly the best of all worlds. The bourgeoisie outlook is one of pessimism, they do not believe that humanitarian solutions can work because they believe that human nature does not allow for cooperation, but as humanitarian socialists we believe a socialist revolution is possible due to the current technological breakthroughs which promise to liberate humanity from the chains of all labor, and allow for a technological replacement in all fields. This will finally allow humanity to pursue either voluntary labor for the benefit of all mankind or humanitarian leisure activities.
Instead of stressing the humanitarian possibilities, such as solving world hunger and curing all diseases, our elites emphasize the military uses of technology. When it comes to Stem cell research and cloning which offers the greatest hopes and cures for diseases, our ruling class raises ethical questions. Anything that threatens the status quo and poses a risk of liberating the masses of people from diseases, wars, labor…etc. seems to pose serious ethical questions for the ruling class. We must expose this through our discussion list as we have been doing for the past few years, and at the same time we must launch our own campaign, possibly through the Tom Weiss write-in campaign, which is currently under way.
