Howard Philpott
Howard Philpott is a newsreader for BBC News programmes on BBC Radio 4.
Philpott was born in London; however he spent his childhood in Bexhill-on-Sea.
Originally, Philpott was a quantity surveyor, however he left the profession and became a studio manager at the BBC. Philpott worked in several production and journalism posts before working as a community announcer and newsreader on the BBC World Service.
Howard once stated that being an announcer on Radio 4 was his childhood ambition. He stated "I used to listen to Douglas Smith playing the announcer on Round the Horne, and dream of following in his footsteps."
