House on Fire (radio show)

House on Fire is a six-part radio comedy series written by Dan Hine and Chris Sussman originally broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in January and February 2010. It told the story of Vicky (Emma Pierson) and Matt (Jody Latham) two people who, having never met one another before, decide to buy a house together, at the height of credit crunch, and then quickly realize they hate one another.

Characters

Vicky Johnson (VOICED by Emma Pierson). A legal secretary from an upper-middle class background. She appears friendly and intelligent but is quickly revealed to be a control freak and has an occasional psychopathic tendency to lash out, normally when things don't go her own way.

Matt South (voiced by Jody Latham). A laid-back aspiring guitarist from a comfortably but modest Northern family. He is kind, gentle but lazy, untidy and disorganized which often causes him to suffer Vicky's wrath.

Colonel Bill Johnson (voice by Rupert Vansittart). Vicky's well-to-do father, who is very proud of his military background, something which is frequently the topic of conversation. He makes frequent appearances at the house throughout the series and is the supposed VIP at Vicky's Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in episode three. He is a big fan of the TV Series CSI Miami.

Julie South (voiced by Janine Duvitski). Matt's mother. Though she is loving and kind-hearted, she is rather naive and unintentionally neglectful of Matt throughout the series. In her occasional appearance, she is often besotted with her growing relationship between herself and her new lodger, Benwyn, who has taken Matt's room - hours after he left home.

Peter South (voiced by Philip Jackson) Matt's father. Though he does appear in several episodes, he less prominent and notable than his wife. He too becomes close to Benwyn, the new lodger.
