Horizontem360

Horizontem360 is a project focused on the transformation of historically significant abandoned military locations in Spain by empowering their relevance with artistic paintings.

This project is named after the key element present in all its artistic works: the horizon line. The project's goal consists of the restoration of strategic military locations used in the Spanish Civil War, by painting the horizon line along their walls and barracks in line with the real horizon line, showing the CONTRAST between an artistic expression and a military element.

Artistically, the works are inspired by the work of Basque painter and sculptor Eduardo Chillida´s Praise of the Horizon. The influence of Agustín Ibarrola´s Bosque de Oma work can also be perceived due to the importance that the physical position of the observer has in the viewing of the works.

Works

This group has operated in Gorliz (Basque Country) and in Talaia d'Albercutx (Mallorca).

Military battery in Gorliz

In July 2016, this group developed the transformation project of the military battery in the Cabo Villano, a cape located one-hundred meters over the Cantabrian Sea. This battery was built during 1940s decade by republican prison fighters.

The group, formed by around ten people, painted virtually all the canyon and the wall with two main colors: bright blue and dark blue, in line with the horizon of the sea and the sky.
