Hop on Pop (band)
Hop On Pop is a Chicago-based pop band led by singer/songwriter Todd Leiter-Weintraub. The name came from Todd's initial plan for the band where he was the only constant member with other members "hopping" on.
I originally intended for this band was for it to just be me, and a rotating cast of musician friends "hopping on" for the songs where it made the most sense. Of course, logistically, that plan made NO sense. And, as it turned out, it was a log of fun to play with these guys... being some of my best friends. So, what the name wound up referring to is the diversity of pop music that we attempted to tackle. WE were the ones "Hop"ping on to different types of pop music. Convoluted, I know. But then, so Am I.
Their debut album, As Drawn By Ethan, Age 2 (SK 019) was released on Spade Kitty Records in April, 2004. Sessions for their second album (working title: MIXTAPE) began in April, 2008, with an eye toward a potential Spring, 2009 release date.
