Heritage College & Heritage Institute

Heritage College (also Heritage Institute in Florida and Virginia) was established in Denver, Colorado in 1986. The college trains adults for new careers. Its primary focus lies in programs leading to careers in healthcare related fields. Programs available include: X-Ray Medical Technician, Surgical Technologist, Massage Therapist, Personal Finess Trainer, Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Assistant.

Heritage College and Heritage Institute are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).

Programs

Heritage teaches students new skills leading to new careers. Career paths are chosen on the basis of market demand for each Skill set. Career paths available at Heritage include:

X-Ray Medical Technician: X-Ray Medical Technicians enjoy the flexibility of possessing a wide variety of skills. At the Heritage x-ray tech school, students are trained to perform both clinical and administrative duties required in a variety of settings such as: a physician office, hospital, HMO, hospice, home health, extended living facilities, clinics, emergency rooms, and other health care facilities.

Massage Therpapist: The Heritage massage therapy school (massage school) offers a holistic approach to professional therapeutic massage therapy. Massage Therapists work in spas, cruise ships, clinics, fitness centers, hospitals, wellness centers, doctor’s offices, corporations, professional sports organizations, and private practices.

Medical Assistant: Medical Assistants enjoy a wide variety of duties. The Heritage medical assistant school (medical assisting school) trains students to assist physicians in examining and treating patients with clinical, laboratory and clerical procedures. Medical assistants work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, nursing homes, hospices, and rehab centers.

Surgical Technologist: Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include anesthesiologists, surgeons, and circulating nurses. The Heritage surgical tech school trains students to assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. They prepare the operating room and patient prior to surgery and assist the surgeon during the procedure.

Pharmacy Technician: Pharmacy Technicians work in grocery stores, retail shopping franchises, retail pharmacies and hospitals. The Heritage pharmacy technician school trains students to work in a professional environment with licensed pharmacists, and assisting in providing healthcare and medications to patients in retail or hospital settings.

Cosmetologist: Cosmetologists work in salons, home-based businesses, and day spas. The Heritage cosmetology school trains professionals for opportunities in hairstyling, shaping, coloring, chemical reformation, make-up, manicures and facials.

Personal Trainer: Personal Trainers work in fitness centers, resorts, health clubs, universities, cruise ships, corporations, and private practice. The Heritage personal trainer school trains students to coach their clients through workouts (weights, aerobics, and flexibility training), nutrition, fat loss, cardiovascular conditioning, and injury rehabilitation to help them reach their fitness and health goals.

Esthetician: Estheticians work in Hospitals, Laser Centers, Salons, Day Spas, Medispas, and Retail Centers. The Heritage esthetician school trains students to provide preventive care for the skin and offer treatments to keep the skin healthy and attractive.

Distance Education

Heritage offers a massage therapy degree at its Denver campus through online distance education. Students accomplish most of the book and class work for their degree through the internet. Discussions, interactions, lectures, and assignments can all be reviewed online. Massage Therapy is still a hands-on discipline, however, and students are required to come to class one day per week for hands-on practice and training.
