Hedonis Da Amazon
Born Janella Dobbs, Hedonis Da Amazon, a rapstress, independently has released mixtapes with hip hop credible DJ’s including, DJ Kool Kid, DJ Diamond Kuts and has worked with top producers including Kwame and 88 Keys. Her latest release, Live From Hot 97 Featuring DJ Kay Slay, was released November 2006.
Biography
Raised in North Philadelphia, Hedonis was shaped by a mother who was a professional boxer and poet, her family, and neighborhood that included drugs and violence. Before seeking to rap Hedonis played H.S. Basketball were she achieved top awards. After finishing college she decided to go full force with rapping and pursue her dreams. With the support of only a few, Hedonis set out to conquer the world of Hip Hop and make a name for herself.
Success
In 2003, Hedonis starred in a national television special, VH1’s Driven: Cutthroat. The show followed her around for six weeks through her daily efforts as an artist to succeed. Over 300 people auditioned with free style and performances at a New York hot spot and Hedonis was the one that was chosen.1
From 2003 thru 2006 Hedonis has performed in popular showcasing venues in NY and Philly. NY Venues include: Demarars Night Club, Jimmy’s Café, Downtime, Club Exit. Philadelphia Venues include: The Amory, Club Flow, Evolutions.
As an independent artist she has gained over 96,000 hits and over 20,000 fans on her myspace page. 2
