Heartland Prowl
The Heartland Prowl are a basketball team based in Sebring, Florida. They are scheduled to be joining the Continental Basketball League for the 2011 season. Founded in 2009, the team played two seasons in new American Basketball Association, and was previously based in McDonough, Georgia (as the Georgia Prowl) and then in Avon Park, Florida. They will play their home games at Sebring High School.
History
The team was founded in 2009 as an expansion team in the new American Basketball Association. During the planning stages they were intended to be based in Savannah, Georgia as the Savannah Prowl, but relocated before the season to McDonough, Georgia, adopting the name Georgia Prowl. They played for one season in McDonough, using the Eagle's Landing High School gym as their home facility. For the 2010-2011 season they relocated to Avon Park in Highlands County, Florida, changing their name to the Heartland Prowl. After the season they announced they would be joining the Continental Basketball League. They will move to nearby Sebring, Florida and play their games at Sebring High School.
