Gunslinger (2011 film)
Gunslinger is an upcoming dystopian all-action revenge-driven thriller set in the near future in the snowy wasteland of a post-apocalyptic America. Directed by French action helmer Chris Nahon and starring American actor Josh Hartnett, the film takes a re-imagined look at what might happen when the lawlessness of the Old West returns but with better weapons. Gunslinger is currently in pre-production and principal photography is set to begin in spring 2010 with a release in 2011.
Premise
In 2012, the world economy collapses.
In 2014, all first world governments crumble.
In 2015, the power and lights go out.
2018, Wisconsin, USA. Communities live in fear, protected by paid gunmen. Jake, a former engineer, is now hunting for food to feed his family. One day, he sees smoke in the distance and realises that it is his home. A gang, led by the psychopathic Brody, has attacked and murdered his family. Seeking revenge, he enlists the skills of his gun slinging brother Sev to exact revenge upon the killers.
Cast
- Josh Hartnett as Sev, an ex-military who sets out with his grieving brother Jake to seek revenge for the [...] of the latter's family.
- Anna Anissimova as Kate, a barmaid who helps Sev and Jake carry out their revenge.
Production
Gunslinger is produced by Mark Williams and 2B Pictures' Albert Martinez Martin. The film will mark the fifth collaboration between Williams and 2B Pictures which was launched in 2008 by U.K.-based Future Film Group to produce independent features. Simon Crowe's ambitious sales outfit SC Films, which was launched in 2008 as a joint venture between Crowe and Aurelius Investments, is handling international sales. Lensing was set to begin in Québec, Canada in spring 2010 but no production schedule has been announced for the film yet.
