Guideline board
is an anonymous bulletin board on Japan's most popular bulletin board service, 2channel. The official name is "ガイドライン＠２ちゃんねる掲示板" (gaidorain at 2channel bulletin board), or "ガ板" (gaita) for short. The board receives an average of around 3,530 comments per day 1. It was established on March 6, 2001.
Summary
gline is a board originally set up with the goal of explaining in detail things such as the latest fads in 2channel and 2channel terminology. This however is just a definition, and at present the board is devoted more to the following two general types of threads.
- Copy-paste alteration
- Comprise of roughly 80% of all gline threads. Popular words on 2channel are mixed with caricatures from manga, games, and video, and with other copy-paste works, and are continuously transformed as in the Chinese whispers game.
- Collection of responses or threads
- Contains things such as the days greatest responses, titles of the most interesting threads, etc.
