GrooveJob

GrooveJob is an online employment website that lists openings for part time, seasonal, and hourly jobs. The website is largely focused on job listings for young people, such as student jobs, summer jobs, and student internships.

History

GrooveJob was founded in 2001 by David Hunegnaw of Hunegnaw Executive Search, an executive search firm based in Columbus, Ohio. The site was originally founded to match part-time workers with jobs at large national restaurant and retail companies that were clients of Hunegnaw Executive Search, such as Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, and Taco Bell.

The site grew quickly, with traffic increasing by six to 10 percent each month in its first four years in existence. GrooveJob counted more than half a million registered users by 2005. As the site continued to grow, the variety of employers listing jobs on the site expanded, and the site currently features a wide variety of seasonal jobs, hourly jobs, and internships in addition to part-time jobs. GrooveJob was acquired by Internet Brands in 2008.

Site Functionality

GrooveJob primarily consists of regularly updated job listings from a wide range of employers. Users can search for jobs by geographic area or by employer. The site's resume builder tool allows job seekers to create resumes by entering information such as work experience, education, and references through prompts in a step-by-step process. The tool then takes the user-provided information and automatically formats a printable resume. Users can also choose to provide an electronic copy of resumes created using the resume tool when applying to jobs through the site.

The "Resource Center" portion of GrooveJob offers a number of articles on various topics AbOUT searching for a job, such as interviewing, writing a resume, and creating career goals.
