Gosiewski (Korwin)

Gosiewski (plural: Gosiewscy) is the surname of a Polish szlachta (nobility) family. Because Polish adjectives have different forms for the genders, Gosiewska is the same form for a female family member

History

The Gosiewski family was a "middle" szlachta family, originated from a Knight of the clan Korwin, Lord of Gosiewo, (or Gosie, or Gosie Lesnica), near Zambrów. One of the most representative members of the family, was Field Lithuanian Hetman Wincenty Korwin Gosiewski. He was one of the powerful and influential officers in Lithuania of the 17th century.
