Gopala Pillai
Dr. G. C. Gopala Pillai is the former Chairman and Managing Director of FACT, Fertilizers and Travancore Chemicals Limited. His vision of a developed Kerala is seen in the plethora of projects he has visualised for the state through the PPP he heads, InKEL(Infrastructures Kerala Limited).,,,,,He is also regarded as the one of the most enterprising executives of Kerala. He had successfully steered a government owned firm KINFRA to become a success. At present he is the chairman of the Govt owned INKEL.
Education
Gopala Pillai did his graduation from Mahatma Gandhi College, Trivandrum. and completed his MSW from Loyola college, Trivandrum. Apart from the basic degrees he has polished his skills with higher degrees from foreign universities also
Personal life
His wife is a medical practitioner.
Professional life
On a career spanning over 3 decades and which still continues he has served in several organisation starting from a middle executive in Keltron.
The period he served in KINFRA has been the most glorious period of KINFRA,[Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation] and to the infrastructure development operations of government of Kerala. Under his stewardship KINFRA became one of the most successful infrastructure firms run by the Kerala Government with numerous industrial parks started and run across the state.
As a recognition to his contributions he was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of FACT, the largest public sector enterprise in Kerala by PESB[Public Enterprises Selection Board],GoI. Later due to the differences with the then Fertilizers Minister Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, Dr. Pillai resigned his post1 and joined a private firm as Consultant.
Government of Kerala invited him to head the INKEL, a new infrastructure firm similar to KINFRA but to be run by private participation. He still occupies the seat.
Other
Pillai plays a key role in many other organizations in their director board. He still remains as the key man in KINFRA which he had mentored. He is a member of the Kerala state Industrial Development Corporation.
