Global Environment Organisation
The Global Environment Organization (GEO) refers to a proposition for an independent inter-governmental environmental organisation, calls for the creation of which are increasingly being made by policy-makers and State leaders alike.
Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and President Sarkozy of France have used the Copenhagen climate negotiations as a platform to introduce the concept of a Global Environmental Organization.
A GEO would realise this objective through the promulgation of environmental initiatives and the enforcement of existing political agreements, such as the Kyoto Protocol, in Contracting Parties.
