Giganspada
The Giganspada is a fictional robot in the Super Robot Wars series. It has appeared as an enemy unit in Super Robot Wars Original Generations. The name Giganspada is of Italian origin, meaning ''great sword.
Appearance
Unlike most mobile units, the Giganspada does not take a humanoid shape, but rather that of a large jet fighter. Its main fuselage resembles the Giganscudo's upper chassis, and is mounted with four oversized beam cannons. The Giganspada is given a dark blue color scheme, splashed with gold on its wing binders, gray on the cannons and black on the cannons' tips. A mass-produced Giganspada opts for a gray color scheme, instead of the dark blue of the original. Like the Giganscudo, the Giganspada is also an emmense unit, weighing in at 270.6 tons and fixed at 132.2 meters tall
Technical And Historical
When the rogue Shadow-Mirror faction arrived in the Original Generation universe, they brought along with them various plans for the development of multiple mobile units, one of which would be the design of the Giganspada. Since the Shadow-Mirror dimension is a parallel universe, the Giganspada is said to be the equivalent of that dimension's Giganscudo. However, whereas the Giganscudo is a melee-oriented, defensive unit, the Giganspada is manufactured as a long-range, offensive weapon. The original Giganspada would enter into production for both the Shadow-Mirror and the Neo Divine Crusaders officers to use; a mass-production type Giganspada would also be created, allowing low-ranking soldiers to pilot. Archibald Grims would utilize the original Giganspada near the ending days of the war.
