Gherry P. Guillergan
Gherry P. Guillergan (Born: September 30, 1962) is a Presidential candidate in the 2010 Philippines Elections. He is also known as Nonoy Guillergan or NONOY@SCIENTIST. His campaign funding has been boosted by supporters who became loyal after knowing AbOUT his proposed radical policies and propaganda.
Guillergan has ran for previous political positions such as the May 14, 2001 elections for Senate and as Vice President in May 10, 2004 elections.
IDeaS and Inventions
Guillergan is a self titled Scientist, as his presidential nickname "NONOY@SCIENTIST" suggests, he truly is a man with a bag full of innovative ideas. His most popular re-engineering of the Perpetual Motion Machine has been covered by local news and was in the last stages of approval by the Department Of Science and Technology, DOST. Although the project was put on hold due to minor errors in the documentation, Guillergan hopes to continue with this project when the right time comes.
Political Life
Guillergan has been running independently for the past decade for various positions in government. Although unsuccessful for his Senatorial and Vice President bid in the past two national elections, Nonoy is as confident as ever to run again for President in the upcoming elections. His wits undeterred, Guillergan is fighting for his right of candidacy after being accused as a nuisance candidate by rival Noynoy Aquino.
Similarity in the nickname of the two candidates proves to be the dilemma in this situation where Aquino is complaining about the possible loss of votes by voter confusion.
His ambition to service the Filipino masses by running for president this 2010 elections was a culmination of his political will. Guillergan has two decades long experience in running for various government positions, starting out as a Barangay Kagawad candidate which he was The Twenty third out of twenty three candidates. Eager to serve and legislate, he then ran for Congress but was not successful and placed seventh out of eight. This was due to one of the candidates dropping out because of an Untimely death. Congress proved to be a position in which he was not best suited for, since governing one district would have limited his ability to reach the indigents all over the country. Nonoy, then decided to run for Senate twice and still was not able win a slot out of the twenty four seats. He ran for Senate twice to his loss. Not being able to achieve his political dreams, he then set his motivation to run for the position of Vice-President, this however proved to be another disappointment in his career.
Many have tried to disqualify him throughout his candidacy for all the positions he ran for, most of the times he was considered to be a nuisance candidate by the Commission on Elections.
Propaganda
Many have been converts to his campaign due to the policies and propaganda that Guillergan has been preaching if elected president. Eventhough the National Identification System has long been proposed by different factions of government, Nonoy's approach is a little bit different. The NIS, National Identification System, will contain relevant data in order for the card holder to claim various government aid and services.
Guillergan's main objective in his First One hundred days if elected is to put into action the policies which he has been pushing. Such policies cover, a revised health care program, national identification system, government allowance. Although they may look like very different policies, Guillergan sees it differently, with the three combined, he is planning to eliminate poverty.
As he says, with better health care, Indigents can be properly taken care of so that they are healthy enough to work for themselves. National allowances will enrich lives of those who cannot afford education, food, basic necessities and shelter. All these services can be obtained through the national identification system.
As radical as Nonoy's propaganda may sound, indigents, as he likes to call himself and his supporters are gaining in strength as his supporters are steadily increasing in numbers.
Criticism
Most voters may recognize him in the local news as he was branded a nuisance candidate and some may share the feeling.
Nonoy's detractors have also pointed out that he is a single middle aged man without any close relations to his family. Moreover, Guillergan is currently residing in their ancestral home. Detractors are saying that this is an example of solitude and can lead to autocracy in decision making which he may apply to his government if elected. But loyal supporters argue that such personal matters cannot be and should not be the main basis in selecting a candidate.
