Gerrit Basson

Gerrit Basson is an Australian national born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1957 and educated at the University of Pretoria in a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He continued his studies in 1978 and successfully completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education and a Masters Degree in Business Leadership in 1989.

After working for twelve years in various roles and last as Managing Director for Persetel – South Africas largest publicly listed IT company - Gerrit Basson traveled intensively around the world with his family for a year before immigrating to Australia in 2001. In October 2001 he has taken a new challenge at Omnix Pty, a small software company based in Brisbane as a Director mainly responsible for leading the company and gaining acceptance in the industry. Gerrit Basson was able to successfully sell, negotiate and secure a contract from a listed company against multinational competitors.

His success in the IT industry coupled with his extensive experience in business leadership drew the attention of ExecuJet Aviation Group. In August 2003 Gerrit Basson took the opportunity to move into a new business world, the business aviation, to start a new career at the Sydney based ExecuJet Australia Pty in 2003 as Director International Projects and as a Sales Director for Australia. He continuously developed his knowledge in aviation and took over an international role for ExecuJet. In 2004 Gerrit Basson moved to Zurich, Switzerland, to take over the role of the Group Chief Operating Officer at ExecuJet Aviation Group AG and was mainly responsible for the evolution of ExecuJet during the period of rapid grow before he took over the role as Group Managing Director of ExecuJet Aviation Group in 2007.

In 2009 Gerrit returned to Australia for 2 years before joining the Group again in 2012 as Chief Operating Officer. In February 2013 Gerrit took on the additional role of Managing Director ExecuJet Europe.
