Gemini Mobile Technologies
Gemini is a little company run by Mike Tso. The company was started as a strategy consulting firm when Mike was working for Inktomi Japan. After winning a contract with J-Phone, it quickly became a software consulting firm developing proprietary technology specific to J-Phones network.
Unable to gain much traction in Japan, Gemini entered the China market in 2005/2006 with little success. After raising $25M in 2007 from Goldman Sachs, Gemini promptly laid off most of their US based employees and moved most operations to China.
After a series of failed attempts to develop software in China, the majority of the Chinese office was terminated and operations were moved back to the US and Japan, though at a much smaller scale.
The Gemini is now running training courses on how to program in Erlang and is reselling services based on various Amazon Web Services.
