Gaziantep Bar Association

Gaziantep Bar Association () is a professional law organization with public institution status, which aims to develop legal profession, to guarantee honesty and trust between lawyers and their clients, to protect the morals and ethics of the occupation, and to ensure rule of law and human rights.

History

Gaziantep Bar Association was founded in the province of Gaziantep in 1923, and Cafer Tayyar became its first president. Its current president, İskender Kahraman, was elected on 9 October 2016, at the last general assembly of Gaziantep Bar.

Architecture

The Gaziantep Bar has its main building and training center in the city center and has many meeting rooms in the Gaziantep Court.

Demographic structure

According to a list, which was released by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations on 31 December 2016, the bar consists of a total of 1,330 lawyers, 946 men and 384 women. In addition to that, more than 300 trainee lawyers are continuing to take their education at the Bar. With this numbers, the Gaziantep Bar is the 11th biggest Bar Association in Turkey. According to 2016 census (of population), there is one lawyer for every 1,484 residents in the province of Gaziantep.

Administrative structure

The Bar has three main executive organs: the Board of Management, the Discipline Committee, and the Audit Committee. There are also Editorial Management, Financial Management, and Data Management, which are connected to the General Secretary and taking actions in order to organize Association's affairs.
