Galway Hibernians F.C.
Galway Hibernians F.C. is a football club from Galway, Ireland, founded in 1942.
Their most senior team currently competes in the Galway & District League Premier League. This May Be seen as an achievement in itself as they do have no feeder team apart from their under-age structure.
The club has many under-age teams, starting at Under-6 level.
History
In the summer of 2001 committee members from Galway Hibernians and neighbouring juvenile outfit, Foyle Rovers, met to discuss the possibility of a merger of the two clubs. The merger went ahead and the club now boasts roughly 200 members.
The expense of running the club could not be met without the considerable financial support of their sponsors and the people who support their fundraising activities. The weekly lottery, taking place on a Sunday, is an integral aspect of the club's fund-raising efforts.
Cristian Lomboto is proving to be one of most Galway Hibernians players, having received trials from Luton Town and English premiership side West Bromwich Albion
The club have reached numerous underage Connacht finals and in 2006 the Under 12 team beat Castlebar Celtic to win the cup for the first time in decades
