Gagan uav

Gagan is medium altitude long endurance (MALE) Tactical UAV. Gagan means sky, it is being developed by ADE lab of DRDO and HAL. The $55.5 million Gagan UAV program will feature development of an advanced version of India’s Nishant sercher-II UAV.

The Gagan UAV weight will be around 250-350kg. It will have a range of 250 kilometers and an altitude of 6,000 meters. Its belly-mounted payload will include pod-mounted optronic sensors (daylight TV camera and thermal imager), or a laser target designator, or a synthetic aperture radar.

ADE will procure synthetic aperture radar and electro-optic sensors from Israel, and develop its own electronic countermeasure systems. ADE got the funding clearance in May, 2005. A total of four prototype vehicles are to be developed over a 42-month period.
