Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics
The Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics VµE is an alliance of institutes of the Fraunhofer Society. It serves as a platform for science, economy and politics. The Group for Microelectronics combines the expertise of 14 Fraunhofer institutes with around 2500 employees and an annual budget of 250 mio €.
Main Focus
The employees of the Fraunhofer Microelectronics Alliance institutes are active in application-oriented research in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics and microsystem technology. They contribute to the competitiveness of their regions, as well as, at a broader level, Germany and Europe, by developing system- and technology-oriented innovations for their clients. The institutes of the Fraunhofer Group for microelectronics consequently gear their activities in national and international networks towards their clients’ specific requirements, the letter’s level of satisfaction serving as an important measure of success.
The primary goal of the Alliance’s institutes is supporting the German economy in maintaining its competitive position in high-quality research and development throughout Europe and the world. Initial research funding by government and related agencies precedes industry funded R&D and creates a pool of knowledge, which can then be drawn on in a customer-specific contract research.
