Fourroux Prosthetics, Inc. is a prosthetic facility providing prosthetic patient care products and services in the United States. Accredited by the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), the company’s corporate office is located in Huntsville, AL and services amputees (and their families) located throughout the United States and Canada.
History
Fourroux was founded in 1956 by George Fourroux, Sr. to provide orthotics for North Alabama residents. Since that time, Fourroux Prosthetics has expanded into prosthetics and that continues to be the company focus. Fourroux Prosthetics is currently co-owned by Marvin Fourroux, CPO. (son of founder George Fourroux, Sr.), and Keith Watson, CPO. They have greatly increased in employees and in service area, as Fourroux Prosthetics now services amputees nationwide.
For the past 50+ years, Fourroux Prosthetics has been providing care to all levels of amputees.
Technologies
Fourroux Prosthetics has developed and patented one of today’s most advancing prosthetic techniques.
- A Method for Automated Design of Prosthetic and Orthotic Devices - A method for automated design of orthotic and prosthetic devices has been developed. The method includes scanning a three dimensional model of the patient's limb with a laser scanner. The model is loaded into a computer for use in manufacturing an orthotic or prosthetic device.
The company is also the holder of Trademarks for the following services:
- AK Today – a method of delivering an above knee prosthesis to an amputee in one days time.
- BK Today – a method of delivering a below knee prosthesis to an amputee in one days time.
