Flying Kukris
Flying Kukris is a children's, aged 6 to 18, rugby union club based in Hong Kong and is sponsored by Tanner De Witt solicitors. The name was derived from the helicopters of RAF 28 Squadron - hence the 'Flying', and the Ghurkhas soldiers - a 'Kukri' is a traditional Nepalese knife. It was first started for the British military who were based in Shek Kong. Training takes place at their Ma Tso Lung ground in the New Territories from 9:30 am on Sunday between September and April. Mini players (aged under 12) participate in occasional local tournaments and the Colts participate in the HKRFU run League. The Club offers players to the HKRFU for consideration for National Selection. Some U12 and above players compete in the annual New Years Day Peninsula v Island matches. The Minis play presentation matches before the start of the annual HK Sevens tournament. Colts players compete for seven-a-side places representing Peninsula on the Saturday of the Sevens weekend.
The Club welcomes all comers, from players with no experience to experienced players. Rugby is a late development sport; so there's no reason not to start just because you didn't start at age 6.
