Flying Kites Children's Home
Flying Kites is a Newport, Rhode Island-based non-profit organization that seeks to raise the standards of care available to the world’s poorest children by providing them with the tools they need to succeed in and contribute to a complex and changing world.
Founded in 2006 by Leila de Bruyne, Justine Axelsson, Toby Storie-Pugh, Benson Nderitu and Rahab Mithitho, Flying Kites is currently building a home and school for orphaned and abandoned children in the highlands of Kenya. This site will eventually be home to 84 children in need.
Dedicated to developing a model of childcare that can be extended and replicated in other less economically developed countries, Flying Kites seeks to offer exemplary care and education, strengthen the local communities in which they operate, raise awareness about the plight of orphaned children, and collaborate with other organizations to increase the options available to disadvantaged children around the world.
