Flashing Swords ezine

This article is about the Sword and Sorcery ezine. For information on the Lin Carter anthologies, see Flashing Swords!.

Flashing Swords is a quarterly ezine publishing short works of fiction in the Sword and Sorcery genre. Each issue carries from six to ten stories by both established and novice writers, as well as occasional reprints. In addition, it regularly features articles and reviews of book, film and comic related to the genre.

Flashing Swords was started in Winter of 2004 by current editor Howard R Jones, and is published by Pitch Black Press, which has also been responsible for publishing the S&S anthologies "Lords of Swords" and "Sages of Swords". An upcoming anthology, "Lords of Swords 2" is expected for fall of this year. Flashing Swords is the proponent of the "New Edge" movement, which actively campaigns for the return of classic S&S.

In February 2006, Flashing Swords was ranked in the top ten Pre-editors and Editors Reader's Poll, with a featured piece, "The Marsh God", winning first place in the "Science Fiction Short Story" category.

In August of 2007, Flashing Swords changed hands and websites. The New website is http://flashingswords.sfreader.com

Crystalwizard is now the managing editor of Flashing Swords and is backed up by an excellent editorial team.

Flashing Swords put out a new issue on Nov. 1, 2007, in both electronic format (free to download from the website) and print (available to order from the home page).

Submissions are open, there is a new book room with a large selection of S&S books and other new features are being added to the site on a regular basis.
