First Baptist Church of Conyers

The First Baptist Church of Conyers is a large Southern Baptist church located north of Conyers, Georgia. It was located in downtown conyers along Main Street with both First Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Curch, and played a key role in getting the brothels out of the city in 1878. The church remained in downtown Conyers until it moved out in late 2000, Locating 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the Georgia International Horse Park to its current location.

The church's current Interim Pastor is Dr. Thomas Hammond, who is also Senior Director of Evangelism for the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Per a Sunday night service on November 12, 2006, the average attendance during Sunday school is 905 people while its average Sunday morning worship service is 1042 people, both are increases of five percent from the 2005-06 church year.

At the October 28, 2007 service, it was announced that a Senior Pastor will be announced on November 4, 2007 with The New minister approved in a combined service on November 11, 2007. He will start on January 6, 2008.

Since its 2001 opening, the church also plays host to the two local high school's graduation ceremonies.
