Fioi
Fioi: belongs to the Italy's north east area slang, properly from the Veneto region. It's known and used from Trieste to Verona as well.
Some strict definitions from Venetian-Italian dictionary:
In daily spoken slang it refers to the English children. From a sociological point of view, fioi is Venetian slang for the state of mind one experiences when becoming part of a group that is GeneRally formed for amusement. Being part of the group often means to share common values and goals, spending one's own free time in leisure activities such as dining out, sport practicies, travelling, having fun, knowing each other.
It could be useful to highlight the operate of a group of Italian artists settled in north east of Italy, in Treviso, the Fioi.tv project.
Composed by writers, graphicians, web masters and musicians, Fioi.tv project takes care of arguments across culture, politics, sexuality, media and communication. It also loves to create special exhibition aiming to impact in the media & Italian customarinesses. A good example is the 'Razzapizza'event in New York City: in honor of Piola's (a worldwide chain of Italian's pizzeria) twentieth anniversary. Inspired by the theme of world pizza, the group's black and white posters comment on different cultural ICONS from around the world including Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues, Bart Simpson, Italo Calvino, and so on.
