Feliciano Canaverys
Feliciano Canaverys (1813-1843) was an Argentine military officer.
Personal life
Canaverys was born June 8, 1813 in Buenos Aires, the son of José Canaverys and Agustina Denis. Feliciano by maternal side was descendant of Anton Denis, who was born in Ireland in Limerick, Munster and arrived in the port of Buenos Aires from Portugal in 1607.
Career
In 1830, Canaverys was made Second Lieutenant of Artillery. Canaverys had become a captain by 1840 when he was suspected of belonging to the Unitarian Party, put in detention and was discharged from the army. Canaverys escaped towards Uruguay with the intention of enlisting in the army of General Juan Lavalle. Traveling to Tacuarembó, he was ambushed by Argentine federales and was arrested. In January 1843, Feliciano Canaverys dies executed by order of General Manuel Oribe.
