Technological innovation: a key factor for enterprise competitiveness

This kind of activity requires a high amount of financial, human and material resources to which many companies have no individual access. Given the structure of the industry in Spain, which is mainly based on small and medium sized enterprises (SME), Technology Centers have successfully covered this necessity. Spanish SME have chosen to externalize their R&D resources by sharing them with other companies with similar needs for innovation, and have therefore generated results which have contributed to the maintenance and improvement of their products in the market. Furthermore Technology Centers have become the necessary partner of many Spanish companies of any size providing them with the most advanced technologies and the most innovative techniques.

What is a Technology Center?

Technology Centers are non-profit private entities that provide companies with applied research, technological development and innovation services. They act as a support platform for their customers generating and facilitating the exploitation of technological knowledge.

Technology Centers act as companies strategic partners. They constitute a smooth and efficient support link for R&D, especially, but not only, in small and medium sized enterprises (SME). Their success is due to their efficient use of institutional funds, and more importantly, to their capacity to satisfy the real needs o f industry in the innovation field. This takes place as a result of the establishment of a sustained relationship of assessment, cooperation, training, technological transfer, knowledge generation and new technological developments through diverse R&D&I contracts.
