Favela Chic
The original Favela Chic opened in Paris in 1995 in rue Oberkampf and has since moved to a bigger location at 18, rue du Faubourg du Temple. A new location recently opened in East London in 2005.
Favela Chic is a mix between a bar, a restaurant and a nightclub. It is well know for its cocktails, DJs and its unique atmosphere.
Music
Favela Chic is also very involved in music. DJs started playing Brazilian music which was an interesting change in the house saturated scene of Paris in the mid 1990s.
Favela Chic has already produced a few compilations of Brazilian music called Favela Chic - Postonove 1, 2, 3 and 4 and released its first self produced artist, Seu Jorge, in 2004.
History
- 1995 : Meeting of the three founders and opening of the first restaurant in rue Oberkampf.
- 1998 : Beginning of MusicAL production and musical event organisation with the 11 world cup parties at Bataclan.
- 1999/2000 : End of the Oberkampf period. Succes of monthly 'Fêtes Postonove' productions at Elysée Montmartre and first international music productions.
- 2000: Opening of a new 300 m2 location between République and Canal de St. Martin.
- 2001 à 2003 : Released of Postonove 1, 2, 3 compilations.
- 2004 : Release of Seu Jorge's album CRU – first Favela Chic produced artist.
- 2005 : Opening of a new location in East London/ Shoreditch
- 2006 : 10 years anniversary of Favela Chic party at Bataclan with more than 3000 people.
- 2006 : Released of the 4th opus of the Postonove compilatilons.
