European Music Radio
European Music Radio began in 1976 broadcasting from clandestine, mobile transmitters on various frequencies on the 48 metre short-wave band. Typical transmitter power was just 10 watts, but despite the low power, EMR's signal was received over most of Western Europe and Scandinavia.
Today EMR is a legal international broadcast station, renting airtime on relay transmitters with considerably higher power and can be heard throughout the world. Most recently EMR has been heard via the T-Systems transmitter in Juelich, Germany on 5965 and 6045 kHz. EMR can also be heard via the LVRTC transmitter in Ulbroka, Latvia on 9290 kHz. Both transmitters have a power of 100kW, which means the station is easily received throughout Europe. The station also regularly receives reception reports from Russia, Japan, South America and Australia.
EMR also has a 24-hour Internet service which can be received here
