Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA)

Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA) is a non profit organization is was founded by women in Ethiopia to empower, educate and support the women with disabilities . Focused on the issues affecting the lives of women and girls with disabilities by improving their skill, capacity and inclusion in the society. The association was founded in 2002 by Berhane Daba, who is disabled after contracting polio as a child, and seven of her friends, and has over 1000 volunteers worldwide. In 2015, the National Peace Corps Association honoured Daba with the Harris Wofford Global Citizen Award, for her work with EWDNA.
In 2017 the Finnish Embassy in Ethiopia chose EWDNA as one of its partnership projects and reported that "even small funds invested in empowering women with disabilities will help in tackling women inequality and poverty while addressing disability inclusive development in the Ethiopian communities."
