Esther Kapiolani Kawānanakoa
Marchesa/Princess Esther Kapiolani Kawānanakoa Marignoli dei Marchese di Montecorona born 1928 is the youngest daughter of Princess Abigail Kapiolani Kawānanakoa born at Honolulu, Oahu during her marriage with Andrew Anderson Lambert. According to some her mother became the head of the House of Kawānanakoa upon the death of her uncle Prince Edward D. Kawānanakoa on May 20, 1953 but other argued that her aunt, the Princess Lydia Liliuokalani Kawānanakoa. She had an older brother, Edward A. Kawānanakoa; and an older sister, Virginia Poomaikelani Kawānanakoa, with Edward four years her senior and Poomaikelani two years. She was the last child of her mother.
She is a namesake of her great-great aunt Queen Esther Kapiolani who had been originally named after the High Chiefess Kapiolani the Great of Hilo who had defied Pele, the Volcano goddess, and embrace Christianity. Marchesa Kapiolani Marignoli is an Honorary Advisor of the Friends of 'Iolani Palace.
She married Marchese Filippo Marignoli (1926-1995), an abstract artist who was the younger son of The Noble Don Giulio Marignoli, Marquess di Montecorona, by his wife, The Noble Donna Marinetta, Marchioness di Montecornona, the former Marinetta Trotta, and through their union she became the Marchesa Kapiolani Marignoli. With her husband she had two children, Duccio Kaumualii Marignoli, Esmeralda Kapiolani Marignoli and Teresa Elelule Marignoli.
