Equal Justice Foundation

The Equal Justice Foundation (EJF) is a public interest law organization at the Washington College of Law at American University. EJF is a member of Equal Justice Works (EJW), a national coalition of public interest law student organizations. The purpose of EJF is to raise awareness in law schools regarding the importance of public interest law, its purpose in society, and the many opportunities it provides to attorneys in this field. EJF is an entirely student-run organization dedicated to Providing legal representation to those in society who are traditionally barred from ACTIVE participation by the overwhelmingly high cost of legal representation.

The Washington College of Law Equal Justice Foundation hosts various events to promote public interest law, culminating in an Annual Public Interest Benefit Auction held on the campus of the law school in Washington, D.C. The organization sets an annual goal of raising over $200,000 from local businesses, national organizations, alumni, students, faculty, staff and others in order to provide individual scholarships for students seeking summer jobs in public interest (which GeneRally offer no compensation).
