Enfold
Enfold Proactive Health Trust was founded in 2001 by gynecologists Dr. Sangeetha Saksena and Dr. Shaibya Saldanha who, dismayed at the occurrence of preventable health problems in young people, sought to promote health and provide preventive care.
They are a registered trust in Bangalore, India since December 2002.
Enfold Proactive Health Trust aims to counter growing problems like child [...] abuse, sexualization of children, sexuality among adolescents and young adults, HIV/AIDS and also addresses mental and emotional health of the youth. They work towards building a social environment where each gender is equally valued and respected, and every child is safe.
Work
Enfold facilitates courses and curriculum on Responsible Sexuality, Life Skills and Personal Safety in schools and colleges
They enable parents and teachers with tools and modules to teach responsible [...] behavior to their children while maintaining mutual respect, open atmosphere and free dialogue.
They train the stakeholders connected to various aspects of child [...] abuse like medical personnel, lawyers, police personnel, social workers and counselors to support and empower children and adults who are victims and survivors of abuse.
They help design, train and set up Collaborative Child response Units to provide sensitive and comprehensive care to the victims and survivors of child [...] abuse
They conduct community-based programs to raise awareness on the need for a mutually healthy and gender equitable social environment
Impact
Enfold were instrumental in facilitating the setting up of 3 Hospital based Collaborative Child Response Units in Bangalore to cater to the needs of children who have been sexually abused.
They facilitate a Post-Graduate Diploma course in Life Skills and Reproductive Health in association with Christ University in Bangalore.
Through their outreach programs, they have reached thousands of children and adolescents, teachers, parents, police personnel, doctors and social workers in over 30 cities and towns in India.
