The European Network of Science and Applicable Technology, usually called ENAST, is an independent, all-European, administrative organization, established in 2012 by the Swedish corporation wbw logic AB, “in order to contribute to the development of contacts and collaboration between the Academia and the Economic Life of Europe”, and to make the development of the European science easily accessible to the interested public.
ENAST supplies its five user groups – students, scientists, universities, private companies, and official organizations – with a wide range of services. ENAST Catalogue make it easier to find contacts within or between the user groups across Europe and to find or share information about scientific and technological projects, to invite other members to take part in a project, or express a wish to take part in a project. ENAST services are not limited to any specific areas of science or technology. ENAST’s discussion venue consists of a European forum, with communication in English, and 49 national forums, where the official national languages are used.
ENAST publishing service consists of two online libraries, the Public Library of Science (PLS), and the Open Library of Technology, (OLT). The PLS publishes peer-reviewed original scientific reports, but also newsletters, press releases, and telegrams. The OLT publishes news about technological products or applications in the form of news articles, press releases, or telegrams. The standard language of publishing is English. When publishing articles – Newsletters, News Articles, Press Releases, or Telegrams – in the PLS or OLT, original texts submitted in English as well as the official, national language of the author(s) are published i both languages. This special service helps to bridge the language gap between the diverse European peoples, and to make it possible to reach, at the same time, both an international and a national audience.
The membership and all services of ENAST are free of charge to its members and open access to its users.
ENAST’s operations are financed by donations, sponsorships, advertising, and volunteer work.
