Edward Fitzpatrick Herman (born April 5, 1974) is a veteran of The U.S. War in Afghanistan and was an unsuccessful candidate of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Herman grauated from Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland in 1992 and studied philosophy at Fordham University in New York City where he graduated in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 1998 during which he attended and graduated from the Defense Language Institute, where he learned to speak Arabic, and the United States Army Intelligence Center and served at the United States Mission to the United Nations.

In 1999, he taught English to children the United Arab Emirates and from 2000 to 2001 worked as an international communications and government relations consultant in Cleveland and New York City. After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, Herman, who was in the United States Army Reserves at the time, was called for active duty in Afghanistan. He served in a military intelligence task force inwhich he interrogated dozens of captured senior Al-Qaeda operatives. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his work in Afghanistan. Afterwards, he returned to Cleveland and worked as a realtor.

In 2004, Herman ran for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Ohio's tenth district. With forty-six percent, he won the Republican nomination over Bruce Gobbledick, 2000 nominee Bill Smith, and Matt Webb. He then faced Democratic incumbent Dennis Kucinich and independent candidate Barbara Anne Ferris. Herman's campaign gave major network and volunteer support to the reelection campaign of President George W. Bush. Kucinich defeated Herman by twenty-six percent of the vote, coming in second place over Ferris. In 2006, Herman ran for the Ohio House of Representatives to represent Ohio's sixteenth district. In a close election, he lost to Democrat Jennifer Brady.

Herman and his wife, Mindy, currently live in Rocky River, Ohio where he is active in the Metro-West Kiwanis and works for RE/MAX.
