Education Update
Education Update is a non-profit monthly newspaper published in New York City. It focusses on issues related to education and has a circulation of approximately 200,000. The publisher, retired education professor Pola Rosen, began The Newspaper at the age of 54, delivering the paper door to door on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The magazine also hosts an annual essay writing competition for New York City school students and sponsors conferences on education policy.
The publication was honored with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce's Best New Business of the Year Award in 1997.
Monthly columnists include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, School Chancellor Joel Klein, NYS Education Committee Chair Assemblyman Steve Sanders, former New York State First Lady Matilda Cuomo, and United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten. Among those individuals who have conducted exclusive InterViews with the paper on education issues are Tony Blair, Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, Senator Edward Kennedy, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.
